Yes hi – I’m Steve Williams. That’s me looking seriously smug and happy with myself to the left there and I’m a D.M. No, that’s not what it means! Stop making up things to fit ‘D.M’. I’m a Dungeon Master – or sometimes G.M. – Games Master. “Oooh Master? Master of the Universe.” Sigh, grow up will you – I nearly have! Yes that’s right – it’s roleplaying. No, it’s not dungeon and dragons. Well, ok – just a tiny bit of it is that, because there are very good things to say about D&D, but mainly it’s really not that. Hmm yes? No I don’t worship devils or anything like that I’m a strict atheist thank you. Anything else you’d like to know? Ah, my day-job. Well, I’m a scientist. Yes, I can see how that might seem awkward or geekish to you – but well, I’m very happy being a geek. Geek and proud.
This is the decade of the geek after all! And fantasy – that’s nothing to be ashamed of. No, not that kind of fantasy that is something to be, well maybe not, I don’t really know what you are thinking of. Fantasy is big business. Look at Avatar if you don’t believe me. Fusion roleplaying concepts on the other hand is not a big business, but I’m hoping it will turn out to be. So, when I’m not ‘doing science’, I’m ‘doing roleplaying’. Or, more likely, I’m trying to but there’s this ‘real life’ thing that keeps on getting in the way. Gad it has a big head and is always sitting in front of me in the cinema when I’m trying to watch dragons blast each other or something.

If you are an author about one of the game systems I’m blogging about – I really want to talk to you about your material. I’m wanting to publish this but I’ve used your stuff, and I can prove it. I’m keeping a written record. I’m not ripping you off – I want to collaborate, and give appropriate co-authorial credits where necessary.
